Understand How You Navigate Uncertainty

Do you instinctively jaywalk or do you wait for the green pedestrian signal? Do you plan your vacations in detail or just grab the essentials and go? These risk-taking tendencies will reflect your most essential personal characteristics. The Risk Type Compass (with copyright symbol) assessment will accurately identify these instincts, shaping culture and enhancing decision-making effectiveness at an individual, team and organizational level.

Meaningful decision involve risk. Yet most individuals and organizations don’t fully understand how risk is perceived, interpreted, and acted upon—especially under pressure.

The Risk Type Compass Assessment (insert copyright symbol) provides a precise, research-based lens into risk disposition, revealing the patterns that shape decisions, behaviors, and outcomes.

This is not a generic personality tool. It is a targeted diagnostic designed to improve decision quality, team composition, and performance in uncertain environments.

Our Approach

We focus on application, not just insight.

The value lies not in the report itself, but in how it is used:

  • To analyze real decisions
  • To understand behavior under pressure
  • To improve outcomes at both the individual and group level
  • To ensure your organization or team is appropriately staffed to achieve your objectives.
  • Senior leaders and executives

  • Professionals operating in high-uncertainty environments

  • Hiring managers and talent leaders

  • Organizations seeking to improve team composition and performance

  • Teams navigating complexity, growth, or change

Why It Matters

Most people assume they are rational decision-makers.

In reality, risk perception is highly individual—and often distorted under stress.

Without a clear understanding of these dynamics:

  • Teams become misaligned
  • Decisions become inconsistent
  • Opportunities are either missed or misjudged

With the right insight:

  • Individuals make better decisions
  • Teams become more effective
  • Organizations execute more reliably in uncertain environments

Case Studies

Case Study 1

Building a More Effective Leadership Team

Situation: A
senior leadership team in a global organization struggled with slow, contentious decision-making. Discussions frequently stalled despite strong individual capability.

Approach: Each team member completed the Risk Type Compass Assessment, followed by a facilitated session mapping the group’s risk profile.

Insight: The team was heavily skewed toward risk-averse profiles, with a small number of more risk-tolerant individuals whose perspectives were often discounted.

Outcome:

  • Improved understanding of differing viewpoints
  • More structured and balanced decision discussions
  • Faster alignment on strategic initiatives

Case study 2

Hiring for a Growth-Oriented Role

Situation: A company was hiring a leader for a new business line requiring both
entrepreneurial drive and disciplined execution.

Approach: Final candidates were assessed to evaluate alignment with the role’s risk
demands and the existing team composition.

Insight: The leading candidate on paper exhibited a highly cautious risk profile,
similar to the current team—raising concerns about the group’s
ability to pursue growth aggressively.

Outcome:

  • Selection of a candidate with a more balanced risk profile
  • Stronger early momentum in the new business line
  • Improved complementarity within the leadership team

case study 3

Designing a Team for Innovation

Situation: An organization sought to accelerate innovation but found that
initiatives consistently stalled or failed to scale.

Approach: Assessment of key team members and redesign of the group to ensure a broader range of risk types.

Insight: The team lacked sufficient risk-tolerant individuals to champion new
ideas and push through uncertainty.

Outcome:

  • More effective ideation and experimentation
  • Increased willingness to pursue new opportunities
  • Better balance between creativity and disciplined execution
